One Piece fans can rejoice as the debut of the live-action adaption is nearing its premiere as Netflix announces on their official Twitter that the series will be launched in 2023. This announcement was posted along with some visual posters of the series.

Below Netflix post on Twitter.

According to ComicBook, Netflix shared the very first look at the series with a poster that showed the main character Monkey D. Luffy in a live-action form. The shots of the images are framed from behind only showing the pirate’s crew’s silhouette against the background. On the Netflix site, the official catalog for the series has also been updated showing the entire crew in front of their ship the Going Merry.

The One Piece live-action series will be based on one of the most high-selling Shonen manga series created by Eiichiro Oda (Wanted!) with the same name. With currently 1,049 animated episodes, 15 animated feature films, 104 manga volumes, and 56 video games, the series has yet to show signs of slowing down.

The original series follows the story of Luffy as he sets sail to obtain the One Piece and become the King of the pirates. Along the way, he is faced with many obstacles, mysteries, and action-packed adventures while adding new members to his crew. The Netflix adaption will be bringing the same story in a live-action form for many old and new fans.

According to Deadline, Steven Maeda (Lost) is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer for the upcoming live adaption. Matt Owens (Luke Cage) as well will also be a writer and executive producer on the series. The Netflix series is being produced by Tomorrow Studies along with a Netflix partnership with Shueisha.

Although the series is set to premiere this year currently it has yet to have an official date.

Many other accounts also shared the visuals such as the official One piece Netflix Twitter and the Shonen Jump Twitter which can be seen below.
