Netflix And The CW Reach An Exclusive 8-Day Streaming Agreement

Well it’s about time!

After weeks of negotiations, The Hollywood Reporter announced earlier today that megahouse Netflix and The CW network have finally come to an agreement on how to continue streaming the CW’s shows. Today they both agreed to a deal which would enable viewers to stream entire seasons of shows after only 8 days of waiting.

Starting with the 2016-2017 season, Netflix will use their acquired rights to stream entire seasons eight days after a show’s season concludes.

Netflix’s Ted Sarandos had this to say in a statement, ”Netflix members in the U.S. love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days after their season finales.’

This means that in just a few short months fans of the CW’s hits will be able to watch or re-watch an entire season of Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Originals, Reign, The Vampire Diaries, The 100, The Flash, Arrow, iZombie, along with new series Frequency, No Tomorrow and Riverdale.

Jane The Virgin and My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend just posted to the steaming site a few days ago.

With this new deal in effect, Netflix seems like the streaming service you’re going to want this Fall. Not only will fans be able to watch CW shows 8 days after their finales, where normally it would take up to a year for the shows to become available, Netflix will also gain exclusive rights to Disney movies.

According to The Verge, Netflix is stepping up their game in the world of exclusivity and it looks like Hulu may be the one getting the short end of the straw. Hulu is known for providing episodes to viewers a day after they have been broadcast but with Netflix gaining the exclusive rights to CW shows and Hulu’s contract with the CW close to ending.

So how excited are you about this new agreement? Do you think this could lead to Hulu’s demise?

Let us know in the comments.
