The Netflix original dramedy streaming series Never Have I Ever is prepping for the release of its second season. The original dramedy from creator Mindy Kaling (The Office) has announced that Academy Award winner and musician Common (Selma) has been added to the upcoming season’s cast in a recurring role, according to Deadline. Never Have I Ever debuted on the Netflix platform on April 27 with the first season consisting of ten episodes. The series was created by Kaling along with Lang Fisher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) in addition to the two acting as executive producers alongside Howard Klein (The Mindy Project, Parks and Recreation), Tristram Shapeero (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Veep), and David Miner (30 Rock).

Never Have I Ever revolves around 15-year-old Devi Vishwakumar who attempts to reinvent herself heading into her sophomore year of high school through the social realm. The series features Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Sidewalks Entertainment) as Devi in addition to Darren Barnet (Turnt), Richa Moorjani (9-1-1), Jaren Lewison (Barney & Friends), and Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of, Defending Jacob), and the famous retired professional tennis player John McEnroe. Common will board the cast as Dr. Chris Jackson who also happens to operate his dermatology practice within the same building as Jagannathan’s Nalini.

Currently, it is unknown when the second season of Never Have I Ever will premiere on Netflix. However, the second season will continue the coming-of-age story of the Indian American teenager Devi throughout her high school experience.
