Netflix has added the sixth and final season of the Pop TV Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek a few days earlier than originally announced, Deadline has reported. Series co-creator, executive producer, and star Dan Levy (Modern Family) tweeted that the final season is now available to stream.
The arrival comes with the addition of Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, a retrospective documentary meant to mark the end of the series that aired after the series finale on April 7th of this year. The season was originally announced to premiere on Netflix on October 7th. Earlier this week, the series officially entered US broadcast syndication on September 28.
The sitcom follows the once-wealthy Rose family, forced to live in the small town of Schitt’s Creek after losing all of their money. The family must re-learn how to live together as they grow accustomed to their new lifestyle in a strange and unfamiliar small town. The series premiered on January 13th, 2015, airing 80 episodes over the course of its 6 seasons. Catherine O’Hara (The Nightmare Before Christmas), Eugene Levy (American Pie), Annie Murphy (Flashpoint) also star alongside Levy.
The series was critically acclaimed during its run. Schitt’s Creek had a record-breaking run at this year’s Emmy Primetime Awards. It is the first series in history to win an Emmy in every category for which it was nominated, including Outstanding Comedy Series. In total, Schitt’s Creek won nine Emmys, more than any comedy series has won in a single year.
