NBC’s Today revealed Thursday morning that Army analyst Bradley Manning wants to live as a woman, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Manning, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks, told his attorney that he wanted to live as a woman named Chelsea.
The information marked the second biggest news story for Thursday morning, following the interview of San Diego kidnapping victim Hannah Anderson.
Manning’s news was delivered through his lawyer David Coombs, who spoke to host Savannah Guthrie. Within the news delivery, Coombs explained that Manning wishes to begin hormone therapy.
Manning’s struggle with his gender identity disorder was a key part of his defense.
