NBC’s ‘Superstore’ To Welcome Guest Eden Sher

Eden Sher of The Middle fame is set to guest star in the upcoming season of the NBC sitcom Superstore. Sher is expected to play Penny, one of the employees of Cloud 9, the title shop where antics are constantly in occurrence.

Eden Sher is already well-versed in the world of the sitcom, having played Sue Heck on the ABC series The Middle for its eight-season run. In this role, Sher played the daughter of Mike and Frankie, two parents who always seemed to have a lot on their hands. No one could blame them, however, after viewing episode after episode where Sue and her two brothers Axl and Brick cause pure confusion and craziness, as well as throw the whole family unit into utterly strange situations.

Superstore depicts the life of a single “big box” store located in Missouri, and the events that transpire within its walls. Like any real chain store, the customers there can get quite strange, with cutaway scenes in many episodes that show individuals leaving objects in places they cannot possibly belong, inappropriately testing products, and doing purely incomprehensible things.

These are moments of great comedy for all of the viewers at home, but likely a cause of pure frustration for the employees who have to deal with the behavior. Amy (America Ferrara), the star of the show and long-time worker at this Cloud 9 is constantly in battle with the craziness the job throws at her. After having worked in the store for years longer than she hoped, she has reached the point of desperately wanting to move on. Her feelings toward the job are thrown around, however, after Jonah (Ben Feldman) finds himself working at the store with what seems to be acceptance. Rather than wanting to get out as soon as possible, it appears early on that Ben only wants to make the best of his new job, helping anyone he can (even without their desire) by adding in his own opinion whenever possible.

The show also stars Colton Dunn, Lauren Ash, Nico Santos, Mark McKinney, and Nichole Bloom, who help to make up the oddball group of workers. Together, they fight to keep the store afloat, despite its nearly constant ability to sink after unexpected situations like corporate checks and mismanagement.

Season 4 of the series is set to air on October 4th on NBC.
