This past Friday, Shannen Doherty was interviewed by ET’s Lauren Zima while at the Stand Up to Cancer’s telecast in Santa Monica. The organization was celebrating 10 years of helping fund cancer research. Later in the interview, Doherty was asked how she felt about the Charmed reboot. That it’s “getting a second life”. Doherty responded by saying, “I think second lives are amazing, so I’m all for it. I’m happy to see a show that back then was all about strong women who supported and loved each other is now coming back again.” You can check out the full interview below.
Charmed originally aired on the WB network on October 7th, 1998. Doherty played Prue Halliwell, the eldest sister. The series was created and produced by Constance M. Burge until Brad Kern took over as the producer in 2000. The original series has many dedicated fans that have shared their opinion on the up-and-coming reboot. Especially with the CW network advertising the reboot as a “fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series.” That had caused a great upset back in January. Even one of the old cast members, Holly Marie Combs, who played the middle/eldest sister Piper Halliwell, has shared her concerns with many fans backing her up.
Doherty, who is in remission from recently battling breast cancer, has been optimistic since the news came out. She too has expressed her concern about the way it is being advertised by the network, but ultimately she feels hopeful and positive.
The Charmed reboot will premiere October 14 on the CW channel.
