NBC has greenlit five additional episodes of its hit multi-camera comedy series Happy’s Place, Deadline reports. The series stars Reba McEntire (Young Sheldon, Big Sky) and now will have 18 episodes in total, which means it’s now considered a full-season order by the most updated network standards.
According to Deadline, NBC also greenlit five additional scripts for the sitcom Lopez vs.Lopez at the same time. There is still no back episodic order for this series from the network yet.
Furthermore, according to Deadline, this move was most likely boosted by the rising popularity of the actress after her coach role on the popular talent series The Voice. Happy’s Place‘s premiere night had a total of 4 million linear Live+Same Day viewers. During the weeks after the premiere, the network gave this series an 8 p.m. timeslot, which has improved viewing numbers by +90% in total. Specifically, it improved by +88% in adults 18-49 and 14 million cross-platform viewers.
According to Deadline, Happy’s Place has taken inspiration from several key creative aspects that McEntire previously used in her other sitcom, Reba, which was named the best new comedy launch on Peacock ever.
Reba’s Melissa Peterman (Fargo, How High), Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily, Ganymede), Tokala Black Elk (Yellowstone, 1883) and Rex Linn (Rush Hour, CSI: Miami) are all recurring stars in the series. Abbott is also an executive producer alongside McEntire, Michael Hanel (Rita Rocks, Titus), Mindy Schultheis (Reba, Titus), Matt Berry (Toast of London, Snow White and the Huntsmen) and Pamela Fryman (Santa Barbara, How I Met Your Mother). The series is produced by Universal Television, which is a division of Universal Studio Group.
Happy’s Place is now streaming on NBC.
