NBC’s Fall Drama ‘Ordinary Joe’ Adds Gabrielle Byndloss, Jason Burkey, And Rushi Kota For Recurring Roles

NBC’s Ordinary Joe has added three more cast members to its roster. According to Deadline, the drama series has Gabrielle Byndloss (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), Jason Burkey (The Resident, For the Glory), and Rushi Kota (Never Have I Ever, Phobias) appearing in recurring roles alongside Joe himself, Jimmy Wolk (Watchmen, Zoo).

The series, centering on Wolk’s Joe, pulls a Marvel’s What If in exploring three separate lives he would lead based on one decision made in his past. It begs to question how one’s life would differ depending on one’s focus: love, loyalty, or passion. In one scenario, Joe follows his true love and marries his best friend Jenny, played by Elizabeth Lail (You, Dead of Summer). When choosing loyalty, he stays close to home and becomes an officer for the NYPD, following his late father’s footsteps. And finally, choosing his passion, he elects to chase his dreams of becoming “the next Billy Joel” and dating a fellow classmate after graduation. This future girlfriend, Amy, is played by Natalie Martinez (Broken City, Self/less).

Deadline reports Byndloss will play Mallory, the wife of Joe’s friend Eric, with whom she helps run a pizzeria. The young couple is expecting their first child. Burkey is set to play Darren, Jenny’s husband in an alternate timeline. While they are all friends, Darren is unaware of Jenny and Joe’s past relationship. Kota will play Sai, the Chief of Staff for a politician’s campaign.

Ordinary Joe is created by series writers Russel Friend (House, Roswell) and Garrett Lerner (Repo Men, Altered Carbon), via Deadline. The duo executive produces along with Matt Reeves (The Batman, Cloverfield) under his 6th & Idaho imprint. They are joined by 3 Arts’ Rafi Crohn (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Let Me In), Adam Kassan (End of Watch, Black Mass), and Howard Klein (Jessica Jones, The Office)The pilot was directed and executive produced by Adam Davidson (Community, Law & Order).
