Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy, Feast) will appear as a guest star on NBC’s Brilliant Minds, playing man with ALS, which Dane has himself, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Dane is set to appear on episode nine of the show’s second season, which is scheduled to air on Nov. 24. Per The Hollywood Reporter, he will play Matthew, a firefighter who struggles to be open with his family about his ALS diagnosis, leading him to Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto).
The Euphoria star revealed in April that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, disease with no cure that causes atrophe to the brain, nerve cells, spinal cord, and muscles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“At the end of the day, just, all I want to do is spend time with my family and work a little bit if I can,” Dane said on Good Morning America in June, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t think this is the end of my story. I just don’t feel like, in my heart, I don’t feel like this is the end of me.”
The diagnosis hasn’t stopped Dane from working, as The Hollywood Reporter notes he is currently filming hit HBO show Euphoria‘s third season, set to premiere in 2026. He also appeared on Prime Video’s Countdown, which ran during the summer. He did, however, miss a scheduled appearance at the Emmys in September due to the disease, saying that he had fallen after losing his balance at home, leading to him being hospitalized on the day of the show.
