NBC Casts Stacey McGunnigle for the Comedy Pilot ‘Ellen More of Less’

The Canadian actress will star in the single-camera comedy from Jason Katmis and J.J. Philbin.

Canadian actress/writer Stacey McGunnigle has been cast for the lead role in the pilot comedy titled Ellen More or Less. The project centers on Ellen, an average-sized woman who starts reinventing herself and love her life after she loing 100 pounds.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McGunnigle will play Ellen, who is a sweet and funny goofily charming woman trying to get over the humiliations as a fat girl. Ellen lost 100 pounds and she is ready to jump into into the “easy” life of a thin person. Soon, she will realize that the world has in plan a new set of problems for her.

Stacey McGunnigle has earned a Canadian Comedy Award nomination for her improv. work and she is a Second City National Touring Company alum who hosts an online series. The actress/writer/comedian was recently nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards, including one for best breakout artist. McGunnigle landed the role mostly because her real-life story features a “former fat girl.”

J.J. Philbin (New Girl) will write the script and exec. produce Ellen More or Less alongside Jason Katmis and Michelle Lee while Peyton Reed (New Girl) will direct the pilot.

Stacey McGunnigle is repped by ICM Partners and her credits include In Security and Geek & Sundry’s Space Janitors.
