The Mysteries of Laura on NBC will return for another season under producer Aaron Kaplan.
The series was ranked as NBC’s fourth-most-watched, racking in more than 8.2 million viewers a week. The second season has rightfully be renewed for 13 episodes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new season will have more of a focus on the crime element than the mom story.
The Debra Messing series hails from Warner Bros. Television. The Mysteries of Laura averages a 1.4 rating among adults under 50.
The executive producers are Greg Berlanti and prolific producer Aaron Kaplan. At first, the drama had some of the worst reviews of the season but clearly improved to earn a full-season renewal.
NBC avoids a complete drama washout from its 2014-15 pickups with the renewal. The Mysteries of Laura will likely be serving as its only returning hourlong.
This comedy series airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays on NBC.
