MTV’s ‘Scream’ Joined By Mary J. Blige For Season 3

MTV’s, Scream, will be adding a new cast member in Grammy winner and Oscar Nominee, Mary J. Blige. The show will premiere it’s rebooted third season later this year. This will be a delayed return for the show whose second season premiered in the summer of 2016. Blige is repped by APA.

The third season will also feature Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, RJ Cyler, C.J. Wallace and Giullian Yao Gioiello. This is part of an entire cast change between the second and third season as the story moves from a continuing storyline style series to an anthology. Season three will come out over three nights over six episodes as opposed to the 12 episodes of the second season.

Season 3 tells the story of Blige as Sherry Elliott, mother of protagonist Deion Elliot played by RJ Cyler. Set in Atlanta, Deion Elliot, well-known running back, is haunted by a dark past that threatens his future goals. Deion and his “unlikely group of friends,” must deal with an unknown killer called Ghostface. 

The season 3 Showrunner and Executive Producer is Vampire Diaries Alum, Brett Matthews. He is joined by Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty executive produce for Flavor Unit Entertainment. Other executive producers are Wes Craven who directed the Scream films, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad. MTV executive producers are Maggie Malina and Dana Gotlieb-Carter. Matthew Signer and Keith Levine serve as producers.
