‘Ms. Marvel:’ Disney+ Series Delivers Major Cameo in Final Episode Post-Credit Scene

Disney+’s latest Marvel series, Ms, Marvel, concluded its six-episode run on Wednesday with world-smashing cameo only the Marvel Cinematic Universe could deliver. Polygon provided a play-by-play of the scene and what it could mean for Kamala Khan’s future in the MCU. Be warned: The following contains major spoilers for the series.

In true MCU fashion, the series created by Bisha K. Ali delivered its second post-credit scene of the series with a surprise cameo from another hero. Let’s set the scene. Iman Vellani’s Kamala has returned home from saving the community and friend Kamran from a final siege by the U.S. Department of Damage Control. Basking in her newfound hero identity, her magical bangle begins to glow instantaneously. Suddenly Kamala vanishes in a blink of purple light and is replaced by none other than Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson (Just Mercy, Room) herself. Danvers is suddenly taken back as she finds herself standing in a random room plastered with posters and Funkos of her likeness.

Polygon reports Kamala and Carol’s freaky transfer could be a twist on the early mythos of the Captain Marvel mantle, which was held by an alien called Mar-Vell. This character was portrayed by Annette Bening (Death on the Nile, The American President) in Captain Marvel. At one point in time, Mar-Vell became trapped in a dimension called the Negative Zone. His only means of escape was to be summoned by his teenage partner, Rick Jones. When danger would arise, Jones would activate a set of Nega-Bands that would swap him and Mar-Vell’s locations. Once the threat was taken care of, the two would switch back.

If this truly is what has happened to Kamala and Carol, according to Polygon, it serves as only a preview of what the future film, The Marvels, could have in store for both Vellani and Larson’s characters. The sequel to 2019’s film, The Marvels is set for a July 2023 release and will co-star Teyonah Parris (Candyman, Chi-Raq) as Monica Rambeau, who made her MCU debut in last year’s WandaVision. The film will be directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods).

All six episodes of Ms. Marvel are available to stream on Disney+.
