‘Mr. Robot’ Orders Two More Episodes For Season Two

Rejoice Robot fans!

According to Variety, Mr. Robot has been lengthened for the upcoming season which is due to air early next month. The USA Network, which hosts the show, ordered two additional episodes to increase the season’s total from 10 episodes to 12 episodes.

This announcement is coupled with the announcement of the season 2 premiere consisting of two back-to-back episodes that will be presented with limited commercial interruptions. Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is credited with directing all episodes of the new season.

Without giving anything away, Chris McCumber, President Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had this to say, “The first season of ‘Mr. Robot’ was everything we hoped for – and then some. So it’s no surprise that Sam and team have raised the bar even more in Season 2. From the first moments of the new season, it’ll be clear that audiences are in for something incredibly special and wholly unexpected.”

Mr. Robot follows cybersecurity engineer Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) who works at a security company, “Allsafe”. Alderson, who has a hard time relating to other people due to his high levels of social anxiety and being clinically depressed, oftentimes finds himself suffering from delusions and paranoia. To curb some of these symptoms, Alderson found that he was better able to relate to others by hacking their online information. This then led to him getting involved in a hactivist group, known as fsociety, with a mission to delete the world’s debt from the big, bad E Corp or “Evil Corp”. Recruited by mysterious group leader “Mr. Robot” played by Christian Slater, Malek finds his character involved in risky and sometimes dangerous situations.

The first two episodes of the season titled eps2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc and eps2.0_unm4sk-pt2.tc, will premiere on the USA Network on July 13th. Taking inspiration from other popular shows like AMC’s The Walking Dead, immediately following the season premiere will be a live after show titled Hacking Robot, produced by Aliyah Silverstein. The show will most likely be a breakdown and discussion on the episode with special guests giving their thoughts on it.

This season will start 30 days after the attack on Evil Corp. and will explore the fallout from those actions.
