Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Renewed for Third Season on HBO Max

Via a Warner Media press release, HBO Max has renewed its top-performing original comedy series, The Sex Lives of College Girls, for a third season. The show, created by Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project) and Justin Noble (Brooklyn 99), follows the lives of four college roommates at New England’s prestigious Essex College.

Season two, which debuted in November, has been a hit with audiences, with last week’s episode delivering more than double the viewers of the series launch in 2021. The final two episodes of the season will air on Thursday, December 15th. All ten episodes of season one are now streaming on HBO Max, and the first two seasons have covered the first year at school for the group.

The official synopsis reads: “season two picks up with the students returning after their fall break, tackling the challenges thrown their way at the end of season one, and facing their next semester filled with new faces, parties and predicaments”, via a Warner Media press release.

The series stars Pauline Chalamet (The King of Staten Island), Amrit Kaur (The D Cut), Reneé Rapp (Mean Girls the Musical), and Alyah Chanelle Scott (Reboot), with additional regulars including Mekki Leeper (Resolutions), Christopher Meyer (All Day and a Night), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Queen Pins), Lolo Spencer (Give Me Liberty), Renika Williams (Healing River), and Mitchell Slaggert (Wish Upon).

Critics have praised the show, with The AV Club calling it “entertaining as ever” and The Daily Beast declaring the “sophomore season passes with flying colors.” Collider also gave it a “warm welcome back.” Suzanna Makkos, EVP of Original Comedy and Adult Animation at HBO Max, said, “Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble continue to brilliantly capture the college experience in the most entertaining and relatable way. This series is the perfect balance of comedy, sex, curiosity, and chaos, and we can’t wait to see what the next season brings.”

The Sex Lives of College Girls is produced by Kaling International and 3 Arts Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television. It is executive produced by Kaling, Noble, and Howard Klein (Jessica Jones, Loaded Weapon 1).
