Mike Flanagan’s Netflix Project, ‘The Haunting of Hill House,’ Will Premiere in October

The Haunting of Hill House is a new horror TV series set to premiere on October 12. Netflix brings us this adaptation based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name. With two previous attempts by director Jan De Bont, and Robert Wise – the latter of which has been successful and received numerous critical appraise – Netflix will try its hand with the classic. Having a TV series set up for such a popular novel is, of course, a huge risk. To bring justice to Shirley Jackson’s work, Netflix is bringing in famed horror director, Mike Flanagan. His past works include AbsentiaHush, and Gerald’s Game which have all shown just how creative and twisted Flanagan can get.

Flanagan tweeted some exciting news. You can find the tweet below.

Flanagan has casted some familiar faces from his past filmography with stars like Henry Thomas (Gerald’s Game), Kate Siegel (Hush), Elizabeth Reaser (Ouija: Origin of Evil), and Lulu Wilson (also Origin of Evil). The show tells the story of how a group of siblings unwillingly reunite, as adults, due to a tragedy that brings them face to face in their haunted childhood home. The series will follow a more psychological scare as it sticks to the novel with its storytelling. It looks to become the new replacement for a horror-type show until Stranger Things returns next summer.

A teaser for the Netflix series was released today on the show’s Twitter account. The video gives us a dark, chilling tour of the Hill House.

The Haunting of Hill House will consist of 10 episodes, and looks designed to be a one-off limited series. Netflix has finally released a few pictures as the suspense builds for the series premiere. These spooky images only further our curiosity and excitement to see Flanagan’s work come to life – no pun intended. You can find the eerie photos below.
