Mike Flanagan Announces Cast Of Netflix Horror Series ‘The Midnight Club’

Mike Flanagan (The Haunting Of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) announced the cast for the upcoming Netflix horror series The Midnight Club over twitter according to Deadline. The ten episode series from Flanigan and Leah Fong (ABC’s Once Upon A Time) is based on the bestselling novel of the same name from author Christopher Pike. The horror series will be produced by both Flanigan and Trevor Macy’s Intrepid Pictures (Oculus, Doctor Sleep) which has been under contract with the streaming giant since 2019 according to Deadline.

Flanigan published a series of tweets stating how “honored” and “thrilled” he is to announce the cast. After that he then proceeded to list the cast and info about the upcoming production in subsequent tweets. 

Portraying the main cast of the terminally ill young adults will be Adia (Danger Love Story), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods, Joe Bell), Tik Tok’s Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter (Power, Brooklyn Love Stories), Aya Furukawa (The Cabin In The Woods, AMC’s The Terror), Annarah Shephard (Caged, Midnight Mass) and Sauriyan Sapkota, Flanigan revealed. In supporting roles Zach Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy, LA’s Finest), Matt Biedel (Midnight Mass, The Umbrella Academy) and Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting Of Hill House, Hush) have been cast. “Anchoring the show” will be Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare On Elm Street, A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors) who will play the enigmatic doctor that runs the hospice of young adults


Pike’s The Midnight Club book was published in 1994 by Simon and Schuster. It takes place in Rotterdam Home, a hospice where young adults with terminal illnesses went to die. Revolving around a group of five young men and women the story is about how the group would meet up at midnight to exchange stories of intrigue and horror. One night they made a pact that the first of them to die would make every effort possible to contact them from beyond the grave.

Co-created by Flanigan and Fong they both will executive produce the series along with Intrepid Pictures’ Macy, Julia Bicknell (Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why) and Christopher Pike.
