Michael C. Hall, Jodi Balfour & Matthew Goode Join ‘The Crown’

Netflix’s The Crown will soon be joined by Jack and Jackie Kennedy.

Deadline reports that Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) and Jodi Balfour (Quarry, The Best Laid Plans) have signed on to season 2 of the Golden Globe-and SAG Award-winning series as the Kennedy couple. Matthew Goode (The Good Wife, Stoker) will join them in season 2 as photographer Tony Armstrong-Jones, Princess Margaret’s (Vanessa Kirby) husband.

The Crown, created by Peter Morgan, is currently in production on its second season. Following the first season’s look at Queen Elizabeth II’s early reign and WWII, season 2 will focus on an illegal war in Egypt, the scandal around Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, and beginning of the tumultuous 1960s.

“The danger of writing a story of someone with a long life is that the story goes on and on, and on,” said Morgan about season 2. “We’re filming the second season at the moment and that takes us up through 1964. The world changes. We leave behind a certain kind of Britain and enter a new Britain.”

The hour long period drama has received some awards love, winning the Golden Globes for Best Television Drama and Best TV Actress in a Drama for Claire Foy’s performance. The first season also took home both Lead Drama Actor SAG awards for Claire Foy and John Lithgow’s performances.

The Crown stars Foy, Lithgow, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Jared Harris, Dame Eileen Atkins, Jeremy Northam, Victoria Hamilton, James Hillier, Nicholas Rowe and Pip Torrens.

Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for season 2.
