According to TVLine, Melissa Peterman (Haul out the Holly: Lit Up, My Babysitter the Super Hero) will be joining Reba McEntire (One Night at McCool’s, The Little Rascals) in her new NBC comedy series. The two will be reunited as both were on Reba for six seasons together. The sitcom was announced earlier this year and is currently still untitled.
According to TVLine, McEntire will star as the character Bobbie, who must navigate running her father’s business. To make matters more complicated, her business partner is her half-sister, which she did not know she had. Peterman will star as a bartender named Gabby. Per the official logline, she is described as “a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.”
Another cast member for the series is Belissa Escobedo (American Horror Stories, Blue Beetle) who will play Isabella, Bobbie’s enthusiastic half-sister. Isabella is a psychology student who has a habit of analyzing people.
In the series Reba, Peterman played the role of Barbra Jean, a very hyperactive dental hygienist. Barbra Jean and Reba’s relationship started off as rocky as Baraba Jean was currently dating Reba’s ex-husband.
According to TVLine, this is the second time that Peterman and McEntire have recently reunited. Last year, they were both in a Lifetime movie titled The Hammer. The two played sisters in the film, which involves a complicated murder plot. Although they did not appear together on screen, both were part of CBS’ Young Sheldon.
The series will have Kevin Abbott (Last Man Standing), Michael Hanel (Why Women Kill), and Mindy Schultheis (Married Not Dead) as executive producers. They have all also worked on the Reba series alongside McEntire and Peterman. Abbott will also be serving as a writer on the series. Julie Abbott (Winifred Meeks) will also take part in the series as an executive producer.
Currently, the CBS sitcom has yet to have an official title as well as a production start date.
