Melissa McBride Seen Filming With Norman Reedus for AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’

When The Walking Dead first premiered in 2010, it became incredibly popular and led to the making of various spin-offs. One spin-off titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to debut in the fall. According to Comicbook.com, the spin-off series was first announced in 2020.

The spin-off revolves around The Walking Dead character Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus (Blade II, Sky). It follows Daryl’s life in Europe as he continues to survive the zombie, also known as “walker,” apocalypse.

When it was first announced that the spin-off series would be set in and filmed in Europe, the original direction for the series had to be changed. Originally, the spin-off was designed to focus on both Daryl as well as another popular The Walking Dead character named Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride (The Mist, Any Place But Home).

However, as Comicbook.com noted, an AMC spokesperson stated, “Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time.” With this announcement, it seemed as though Carol was no longer going to be a prominent character in the spin-off series.

The spokesperson continued, “We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but The Walking Dead Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future.”

The hope to see Carol again may be a reality sooner than anticipated as Reedus and McBride have recently been seen filming together in France. It isn’t yet clear whether this was for the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon or a potential second season.

Since this sighting, the director of various episodes of the spin-off series Greg Nicotero (Creepshow, The Hills Have Eyes) spoke to Comicbook.com. He stated, “I think it’s safe to say that just because Daryl left and Carol’s at the Commonwealth doesn’t necessarily mean that’s where they’re going to end up, and that’s where they’re going to stay.”

This fall, fans of The Walking Dead franchise can look forward to seeing Daryl’s journey in Europe and have hope that perhaps he and Carol will reunite soon enough.
