Melissa Joan Hart in Talks to Reboot “Clarissa Explains It All” or “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”

In the age of nostalgic reboots, two popular television shows from the 90s and 2000s may again be gracing the small screen (or computer screen). According to The Huffington Post Entertainment, Melissa Joan Hart revealed that she’s in talks to reboot either Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which ran on ABC and the WB from 1996 through 2003, or Clarissa Explains It All, which ran on Nickelodeon from 1991 until 1994.

When she announced she had a meeting after taping FABLife, the crowd got excited and she had to tell them to slow down, since it’s “just a meeting.” She went on to say it’s going to depend on who will give up the rights to the show and who would want to do the reboot.

Hopefully if Sabrina is the show to get rebooted, Salem the cat hasn’t become human again and isn’t plotting to take over the world.

Clarissa Explains It All starred Hart as Clarissa Darling who dealt with typically teenage problems, like sibling rivals with her brother, applying to college, first crushes and getting a driver’s license. The show was part of the Saturday Nickelodeon lineup that also included popular shows All That and Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Sabrina the Teenage Witch focused on Sabrina Spellman, who found out she was a half-witch on her sixteenth birthday when she moves in with her two aunts, Hilda and Zelda and their talking cat, Salem. She has to deal with surviving high school, and later college, while keeping the fact that she’s a witch a secret.

In the final episode, which aired in 2003, she’s set to marry a musician, Aaron, before getting cold feet (literally) before her wedding. At the end of the episode, she realizes she doesn’t want to be with Aaron and runs off with her high school sweetheart, Harvey Kinkle, who knows about her being a witch.

The show was originally a part of ABC’s TGIF lineup before it was canceled in 2000. The rest of the show’s run finished out on The WB.

For fans of both shows who don’t want to wait to rewatch the series, both of them are available to stream on Hulu.

Since starring on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains It All, Hart has done a guest appearance on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. She also starred in the ABC Family (now Freeform) holiday movie, Holiday in Handcuffs, in addition to My Fake Fiance and recently wrapped up a four-season run on Melissa and Joey this past August.
