According to Deadline, Max recently set a premiere date for the Gremlins animated prequel series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. The date for the series was revealed during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service in Los Angeles. The series is scheduled to air Tuesday, May 23 on the Max streaming platform.

According to Deadline, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai will take viewers back to Shanghai during the 1920s. This is where the Wing family first met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. A young Sam Wing takes on the dangerous task of taking Gizmo home on a journey through the Chinese countryside. The character of Sam Wing is known to many fans as Mr. Wing in the 1984 film Gremlins. Sam and Gizmo are joined by Elle, a teenage street thief, and together they encounter and face off against colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore while also being pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his army of evil Gremlins.
Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is being produced by Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Animation. Steven Spielberg (Jaws) will serve as executive producer along with Darryl Frank (All the Way) and Justin Falvey (Falling Skies). Tze Chun (Gotham) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
The cast includes Ming-Na Wen (Mulan), James Hong (Kung Fu Panda), BD Wong (Mr. Robot), Matthew Rhys (The Post), Izaac Wang (Good Boys), AJ LoCascio (The Loud House), Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (All That), along with guest voices Zach Galligan (Waxwork), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Randall Park (WandaVision), George Takei (Star Trek), and Bowen Yang (The Outs).
Other series that will be airing on Max include The Regime, The Penguin, a Harry Potter television adaption, and many more.
Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai will air on Max Tuesday 23.
