According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), and Woody Harrelson (Natural Born Killers) will be teaming up once more for a new comedy series on Apple TV+. After nine years of having starred in HBO’s True Detective, the actors are back together but this time on a different type of series. Other than the HBO series, the two actors have both been in many films together from Welcome to Hollywood to EDtv and the new series they’ll be working on seems to play a part in the history the two share.
The new Apple TV+ comedy is yet to have an official title but comes from Schitt’s Creek alum David West Read, who also created another upcoming series for Apple TV+ called The Big Door Prize. Skydance Television will be the one producing the series.
The Holywood Reporter reports that the new comedic series will have ten episodes and it is described as, “a heartfelt odd couple love story revolving around the strange and beautiful bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Matthew and Woody’s friendship is tested when their combined families attempt to live together on Matthew’s ranch in Texas.’’
McConaughey, Harrelson, and Read will executive produce the series alongside David Ellison (Top Gun: Maverick), Dana Goldberg (I Am Legend) and Matthew Thunell (Hellboy) of Skydance, Bill Bost (World War Z) and Jeremy Plager (Triangle of Sadness).
Read’s new series The Big Door Prize is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on March 29th. The series will air with three episodes before switching to weekly episodes. The series will focus on what happens to a small town when a machine arrives and promises to reveal everyone’s potential. This new series may highlight what is to be expected from his new series with McConaughey and Harrelson.
Currently, there is no official set premiere date for the new untitled series with McConaughey and Harrelson.
