Marvel’s ‘What If…?’ Will Introduce an All-New Superhero in Season Two

Marvel’s most popular animated series is about to become even more popular. According to Comicbook, What If…? will introduce a new superhero into the Marvel Universe. This character was created to make their first appearance in the show’s second season.

According to Comicbook, Marvel just released more information on this new character. Her name is Kahhori and she is the creation of writer Ryan Little (I Am Groot,  Runaways) with the help and collaboration of Mohawk Nation historian Doug George and Mohawk language expert Cecelia King. The second season of What If…? will have an episode that follows the story of Kahhori as she finds the Tesseract in world before America was colonized. The episode will be set in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. With help from the Tessaract, Kahhori is heading on a quest to the stars to discover her true power. George told the official Marvel website how this episode of What If…? will be exceptional in the exciting story told from a Native Mohawk perspective and how it will give viewers of the show a unique, historical, entertaining perspective on America’s first peoples. George also said, “The story is dramatic, the characters fully realized, and the action sequences are breathtaking.” George has also expressed his gratefulness for the cooperation of the Mohawk people who helped create the episode and collaborated on multiple aspects including the dialogue and the adornment.

Little has expressed excitement over the opportunity “to build an entirely original corner of the MCU with storylines for new Indigenous heroes.” Little has also said that the storylines were “written from a place of respect for past generations and optimism for future ones.” Little has also given fans an explanation on how to pronounce the real Wolf Clan name Kahhori which could mean “She stirs the forest” or is someone who motivates those around her. The name is pronounced, according to Little, “KAH-HORTI.”

According to Comicbook, the second season of What If…? doesn’t have an exact premiere date. The second season is expected to premiere in late 2023 but it could also be delayed and premiere in early 2024.

What If…? is a Marvel animated series that explores how one detail, one decision, could have changed the MCU from the one the fans have seen on screen. In each episode, one key moment in the timeline is changed and The Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright (The Batman, Westworld), guides the viewers through how one small change affected the entire universe. The series shows how different the characters fans know and love would be if just one small change were introduced to the timeline.

What If…? season two is still in production and is set to premiere sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. The first season of the show is available to stream on Disney+.
