Marvel’s Highly Anticipated ‘New Warriors’ Shopping Around for New Network

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the original plans for the future of New Warriors have broken down between Marvel and Freeform. The upcoming series was initially set to air on the Disney-ABC owned network, but Freeform reportedly could not fit the show into any time slots in its 2018 programming schedule. New Warriors is now searching for a new network to call home.

New Warriors follows six young individuals with special powers (though who aren’t quite superheroes) who all live together and figure out how to cope with life and their abilities. The cast includes Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Matthew Moy as Microbe, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Kate Comer as Debrii, Derek Theler as Mister Immortal and Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl.

The 10-episode series will be Marvel’s first live-action comedy and apparently tested extremely well amongst top-level execs, making New Warriors one of the most anticipated television series of next year.

Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment, released a brief statement about the future of New Warriors. “We are extremely excited about Marvel’s New Warriors and look forward to finding the perfect partner to launch the series with in 2018,” Buckley said.

Some believe that the series might be brought to Disney’s soon-to-be-released streaming service, but this is only speculation, as no plans has been confirmed just yet.
