According to Deadline, in recent episode of the official Marvel podcast, Brad Winderbaum (Agent Carter, Item 47, Team Thoe: Part One), Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming, shared exciting updates on the upcoming Disney+ lineup. Winderbaum revealed details about highly anticipated series, including Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha All Along and Eyes of Wakanda.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025. Winderbaum expressed enthusiasm for the revival, noting its similarities to X-Men ’97. He said, “It’s similar in some ways to X-Men ’97 because it’s reviving something that the fans love, but it is taking it in a new direction. These characters have matured. The universe is different than it was. Things have changed. Society has changed.”
Eyes of Wakanda, expected to arrive sometime in 2024, delves into Wakandan history and expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe across different time periods, as mentioned here. Reported by Deadline to be produced by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed, Space Jam: A New Legacy) and directed by longtime storyboard artist Todd Harris (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Bullet Train). Winderbaum praised the series for its action and storytelling by saying, “It’s an awesome show, the action’s insane, the storytelling is fantastic. It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but it also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. So, if you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show’s gonna be a real treat.”
Agatha All Along, slated for release in September 2024, will see Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms, Step Brothers, The Visit) reprise her role from 2021’s WandaVision, as mentioned by Deadline. Winderbaum described the series as “fun” and “scary,” capturing the essence of Halloween while delivering dramatic twists. “Agatha is…really fun, but it’s really scary and it gets quite dramatic,” he said. “She’s an amazing anti-hero and that show…lures you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you’re crying. It’s a Marvel brand of scary. It’s a Halloween show. There are deadly stakes in this series. It’s a fun ride, but it’s a dangerous one.”
Winderbaum also discussed the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, focusing on Peter Parker’s early years. According to Deadline, the series does not have an official release date yet, but Winderbaum highlighted its ensemble cast and fresh take on familiar characters. “It has twists and turns that are amazing, but the real power is the ensemble, the neighborhood,” he said. The show will feature characters not previously seen in the MCU, including Nico Minoru, Lonnie Lincoln and Harry Osborn, with showrunner Jeff Trammel (Craig Of The Creek, Amphibia, Glitch Techs) leading the project.
Marvel fans have plenty to look forward to with these new additions to the Disney+ lineup. Each promises unique stories and exciting adventures within the Marvel universe.
