Marvel and Hulu’s ‘Tigra & Dazzler’ Series Experiences Setbacks

One of Marvel’s four planned series, Tigra & Dazzler, which also is set to be produced by Hulu, has experienced behind the scenes setback according to sources close to the project. The series’ previous show runner, Erica Rivinoja, and writing staff have left the show’s production due to ongoing creative differences.

Allegedly Marvel and the writing team differed on the show’s creative direction leading Marvel to search for a new show runner that will have a different creative vision for the upcoming show. The news coincides with reports of Marvel Television officially shutting down and ceasing operations on any developing content.

Tigra & Dazzler was set to be about “two woke superheroes and best friends as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Chelsea Handler remains attached to the show and will voice one of the main characters.”

Despite the unfortunate news, the online streamer has every intention of moving forward with the project and is open to rehiring writers from the series’ original staff if the new showrunner for Tigra & Dazzle’s decides to do so. This will also mark another recent change to a Marvel-Hulu collaboration since the announcement of a Ghost Rider live action series adaptation being scrapped.

Other previously greenlit Marvel and Hulu collaborations included: Howard the Duck, Hit Monkey, and M.O.D.O.K and will all debut separately before crossing over with the planned The Offenders series. As of now, Marvel Television is only currently producing the live-action Helstrom series in partnership with Hulu.

Variety also previously reported that Marvel Television head, Jeph Loeb, exited Marvel shortly after Disney’s Kevin Feige promotion to chief creative officer of the now Disney-owned company and as result took over any cross related Marvel works in mediums such as publishing, film, TV, and animation.
