Margo Martindale to Play Luciana Goldberg in ‘Impeachment” American Crime Story’

Actress Margo Martindale will have a key role in Ryan Murphy’s latest crime anthology series, as Deadline has learned she has been tapped to play Luciana Goldberg in Impeachment: American Crime Story, the series’ third season which will focus on the sex scandal Bill Clinton faced that plagued his presidency. Martindale’s Lucianne Goldberg was a literary agent and author who was another piece in the puzzle of the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton. She advised Linda Tripp, a former US civil servant, that it would be legal to record White House intern Monica Lewinsky discussed her sexual affairs with President Clinton. The series will be mostly based on A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought down a President, by Jeffrey Tobin.

Clive Owen will be playing the role of Bill Clinton, alongside Beanie Feldstein and Annaleigh Ashford as Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones respectively. Sarah Paulson will also have a prominent role. Paulson has starred in eight of the nine seasons of Murphy’s American Horror Story, and starred in Murphy’s first season of American Crime Story as Marcia Clark, the prosecutor in the OJ Simpson trial, a role that earned Paulson an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Like Paulson, Martindale will be adding Emmy royalty to the show. She received television’s most coveted trophy three times, twice as a guest actress in FX’s The Americans, and one for Justified. Martindale also has played notable roles in Sneaky Pete and The Good Wife, and The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight. Martindale has also lent her voice to an animated version of herself every now and then in Bojack Horseman. Season 3 of American Crime Story will premiere in September 27th, 2020, and with the team assembled Impeachment might end up giving Paulson and Martindale more gold to take home.
