M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Servant’ Gets Nov. 28th Premiere Date at Apple TV+

M Night Shyamalan is back once again! The infamous writer-director has recently teamed up with Apple TV+ for new series titled, Servant. The official synopsis for the series focuses on a “Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.” The series is set to star Lauren Ambrose, Nell Tiger Free, Toby Kebbell, and Harry Potter alum, Rupert Grint as the main leads according to Apple TV+’s website.

Although primarily known for his psychological thrillers, fans can expect the upcoming series to have the same aesthetic of Shyamalan’s other creative works despite him only taking on producing duties for the series. Shyamalan has had a string of dismal box-office failures himself before making a come-back of sorts with 2015’s  found-footage film, The Visit and his subsequent feature films in the Unbreakable universe, Split (2016) and Glass (2019).

Setting the precedent for audience’s expectations, one can only hope the future Apple TV series mirrors his more popular works such as: 1999’s The Sixth Sense with a young Haley Joel-Osment and Bruce Willis, 2000’s Unbreakable which also starred Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, 2002’s Signs starring Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix, and 2004’s period-piece, The Village, which featured a fresh-faced Bryce Dallas Howard.

Currently rated TV-MA, back in February 2018 the drama was announced as part of Apple’s initial upcoming series rollout— shortly after the company gave the series a straight to production order for its first season which will consist of ten episodes. The thriller is created by Tony Basgallop who will also write for Servant and executive produce alongside Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black, and Steve Tisch in partnership with Blinding Edge Pictures. Servant is coming November 28 to the Apple TV app with an Apple TV+ subscription.
