‘Loki’ Details Revealed at Comic Con – ENDGAME SPOILERS

Avengers: Endgame Spoilers

Fans were devastated after Loki was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity WarIt seemed unlikely that the trickster god would be able to return. However, in Avengers: Endgame a Loki from an alternative timeline was able to use the Space Stone to escape the Avengers during the Battle of New York in 2012. At the San Diego Comic Con, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, confirmed that the Loki television series will pick up after that moment in Avengers: Endgame.

Fans can expect the very snarky Loki they knew and loved in the earlier films, because the Loki in the TV show did not live any of the moments post The Avengers. Tom Hiddleston, the actor who plays Loki, made a brief appearance in Hall H and commented on the timeline, “You guys saw Avengers, right? He’s still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was that he got Hulk-smashed, so there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen, but Kevin has generously showed me what his plans are — I can’t tell you any of them — but its is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I think I’ve ever come across.”

The upcoming series will show Loki as he travels through time and influences historical events. Michael Waldron is set to be the series showrunner and will write the pilot episode. Waldron has worked on Rick and Morty and Community, so it is likely that Marvel is planning on Loki leaning into the comedic side of the character.

Loki will not premiere on the upcoming Disney+ streaming service until Spring 2021. Loki will be one of the few upcoming Marvel television shows that are bringing actors from the films to the small screen. Other shows announced are WandaVision with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, and Hawkeye with Jeremy Renner.
