Actress Liv Tyler (Super, Lord of the Rings) has announced that she is departing the upcoming second season of 9-1-1: Lone Star, citing COVID-19 travel restrictions, according to Screen Rant. Due to her residence in the United Kingdom, Tyler is limited to traveling to Los Angeles for the production due to the strict travel restrictions between the two countries. The drama series has announced that it will not recast Tyler’s character for the season with hopes of a possible return to the series in the future.
The Fox original program premiered in January 2020 and was created by the likes of Tim Minear (Firefly, The X-Files), Brad Falchuk (Scream Queens, Glee), and Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story). This series is a direct spin-off of 9-1-1 and follows the police, fire, and ambulance crews and departments in Texas. The series cast featured Tyler as paramedic Michelle Blake, Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation) as firefighter Owen Strand, Sierra McClain (Mindhunter, Empire) as 9-1-1 operator Grace Ryder, Ronen Rubinstein (Orange Is The New Black) as firefighter TK Strang, and Jim Parrack (Battle: Los Angeles, True Blood) as firefighter Judd Ryder.
Additional cast members include Brian Michael Smith (Chicago P.D., Girls), Gina Torres (Suits, Firefly), Julian Works (American Crime, Titans), Rafael Silva (Drunk Art Love), and Natacha Karam (Homeland).
