NBC’s Chicago P.D. will lose an officer for its eighth season. Lisseth Chavez (The Fosters, The OA) will not return to the cop drama, via TVLine. Instead, the actress has joined The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular. Legends of Tomorrow is entering its sixth season.
According to TVLine, Chavez will star as alien expert Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz on the superhero series. Cruz will be a great source of knowledge for the team as season six will focus on them combating extraterrestrials throughout history. Because of an alien encounter when she was a youth, Cruz has developed the ability to converse with alien life forms telepathically. This paired with her DIY technology will assist the team when one of their own is taken hostage by an alien threat.
Legends of Tomorrow follows a mixed bag of D.C. Comics’ characters who are forced to band together and rescue the world through time. The series also recently added Shayan Sobhian (The Chosen) and Olivia Swann (Doctors) as series regulars, via TVLine. Legends of Tomorrow’s sixth season has been set for a midseason debut in 2021.
According to TVLine, host of new characters will be cast to fill the void of Chavez’s departure from Chicago P.D. Chavez joined the police procedural in season seven as Vanessa Rojas, an undercover cop who would be recruited by Sergeant Voight played by Jason Beghe (G.I. Jane, Monkey Shines). The season was cut short due to the coronavirus, ending prematurely with episode twenty. The eighth season is set to premiere Wedneesday, November 11 as part of NBC’s fall rollout, via TVLine. The series is part of Dick Wolf’s (Law & Order, Chicago Law) Chicago franchise which includes Chicago Fire and Chicago Med.
