Lindsay Lohan Joins British Series ‘Sick Note’

Lindsay Lohan is making a comeback, but this time it’s in Britain. TVGuide.com confirmed today that the former child star will join the second season of the British series Sick Note, which airs on Sky1 and NOW TV. Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint and Into the Badland‘s Nick Frost are confirmed to return for the upcoming season as series regulars.

The premise of the series revolves around Daniel Glass (Grint), a compulsive liar who is in a hopeless relationship and works a dead end job at an insurance company. Miami Vice‘s Don Johnson appears as Glass’s uncontrollable boss, Kenny West. During Season 1, Glass was inaccurately diagnosed with a terminal illness by the inadequate Doctor Ian Glennis (Frost). Once Glennis learns that the diagnosis is wrong, he convinces Glass to keep the truth a secret after the lie takes on a life of its own.

Lohan is joining the cast as Katerina West, the daughter of Kenny West. Not much is yet known about the character except for her relation to Glass’s boss.

Jon Mountague, the head of Sky1’s Comedy Department, said in a statement for Sky’s official website, “One lie leads to the next in this unsettlingly brilliant comedy that will hook viewers in and have them on the very edge of their seats. Filming for series two is already under way and we’re delighted to confirm Lindsay Lohan will be joining Rupert and Nick in this stellar comedy cast.”

Lohan made a name for herself in the early 2000s when she starred in many blockbuster films. Her debut role was as Annie James and Hallie Parker, two twins separated at a young age who meet each other at a summer camp, in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap. She went on to appear in Life-Size, Get a Clue, the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Just My Luck, Georgia Rule, and Lifetime’s Liz & Dick. Her most recent TV appearance was in 2014 when she guest starred as Claire in Guinness during Season 3 of CBS’s 2 Broke Girls. She is set to appear in the crime and horror film The Shadow Within this year.

Season 2 of Sick Note is expected to pick up immediately where Season 1 left off. While an official air date has yet to be announced, the new season is expected to air in 2018. Harlot‘s Pippa Bennett-Warner and Blood Drive‘s Marama Corlett also starred in Season 1 of the series.
