Leslie Grossman Shares Her Excitement Working with ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ on FX

American Horror Story: Apocalypse is the eighth season of the series that explores the world after a nuclear apocalypse. In the aftermath of it all, there are various Outposts set up by the Cooperative. This season shows a return of some familiar faces including Leslie Grossman who portrays a new character – the daughter of a billionaire – Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt.

While Grossman’s character develops as one of the leads in the show, she credits series co-creator Ryan Murphy with creating an interesting and impactful role for the viewers. “Ryan [Murphy] has a lot of fun writing for Coco — his fingerprints are all over that character,” she tells TVLine. “I know she’s a strong flavor, but stick with her, because it gets interesting. She seems to be one thing, but you never know what she’ll turn into.”

Murphy took to his Instagram account to post an iconic group photo that had the fans going wild. “I cannot say anything, only Ryan can do that at this point,” she explains, “I think he was just so excited,” Grossman says. “Like, the picture was too great.”

Sarah Paulson is a prominent cast member as she has played an extensive list of characters throughout the series, earning her multiple awards and a positive critical response. Paulson makes a comeback with a new and intimidating character as Wilhemina Venable, the commander of Outpost 3. Grossman was honored to work besides Paulson even if it meant taking hit from one of her favorite people. “How lucky was I to be on the receiving end of — not just a slap — but a backhand, which is even more fierce,” she says. “We were really worried about not laughing during that scene, mostly because we felt so bad for the crew. It had been such a long day, and if I was the one who started laughing during hour 13 at work, it wasn’t going to be cute. We managed to hold it together, though.”

With the season offering a lot of potential storylines and shocking surprises, Grossman understands fans wanting some spoilers. “All I can tell you is that there are a lot of layers. When you think it’s going to go one way, it goes another. Just let it unfold, and I promise it’s going to be satisfying” she assures
