Leah Remini and Kevin James Will Reunite In ‘Kevin Can Wait’ Finale

The season finale of CBS comedy Kevin Can Wait is going to have a special treat for fans of classic sitcoms according to Variety. Leah Remini, longtime TV wife of star Kevin James on The King of Queens, will be making an appearance as a former colleague. The King of Queens ran for nine seasons on CBS.

Of course, Kevin Can Wait hasn’t been any slouch itself. The recently renewed series stars James as Kevin Gable, a police officer who retires after 20 years on the force. He soon finds that retirement, between a wife and three kids, isn’t the easy road he anticipated. Other stars include Erinn Hayes, Taylor Spreitler, James DiGiacomo, and Mary-Charles Jones. James also serves as an executive-producer

The two-part finale, airing May 1 and 8, will see James coming out of retirement to partner with Remini on an undercover case. In classic sitcom style, they’ll be posing as husband and wife. Sure, it’s a little on the nose, but anyone who remembers the stellar chemistry between James and Remini’s oafish Doug and consistently sassy Carrie Heffernan have plenty to look forward to. James may play a more tight laced character on Kevin Can Wait, but some lovable goofs live forever.

Remini’s most recent project has been an A&E documentary series titled Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath which was recently greenlit for a second season. She has also signed on to a lead role in NBC comedy What About Barb? based on the 1991 Bill Murray hit What About Bob? She is also a published author.

James has addressed the reunion on Twitter and seems to be looking forward to it.

Though the character changes, they can’t stay away from that Kevin James charm.

Kevin Can Wait airs Mondays at 8 ET on CBS. Remini’s guest dates on the two-part Season 1 finale air May 1 and May 8. Stay tuned with mxdwn for further news regarding the CBS lineup, guest appearances, and Kevin Can Wait.
