In addition to telling off an entire demographic on last week’s episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill Maher purposefully used filmmaker and fan-favorite Kevin Smith as an example of kids not growing up based upon his infamous hockey jersey and jean-shorts attire. The comments came off the back of Stan Lee’s passing once more, and the mannerism in which Maher has gone about its business has stirred comic book fans into raged-frenzies across digital platforms.
But, while Maher attempted to prod Smith into a corner as a “man-child,” Smith appears to have taken it all in stride, which if anyone is familiar with Kevin from his filmmaking highs and lows and his podcast fame, then you know that Kevin is not one for confrontation. And, according to him, Maher isn’t either, as Smith tweeted :
While Maher might argue and insist that comic-books and the silliness of adults have led to the rise of Donald Trump, Kevin Smith seems to have bigger fish to fry for the time being. Still recovering from his heart-attack from last February, Smith has worked hard to better himself physically, cutting down to a weight he had around his time in Clerks, a film that came out more than twenty-years-ago. Smith is currently in production on his Jay and Silent Bob Reboot as well as continuing his stay as part-time director for executive-producer Greg Berlanti’s and CW’s The Flash and Supergirl. He sure is a busy guy for a man-child.
