Keep on Rowing: There Will Be Another Season for ‘Schitt’s Creek’

So it appears we’re all up Schitt’s Creek for at least another season! According to THR, Pop Network has renewed the series for a 5th season.

Created by Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose) and his son Dan Levy (David Rose), Schitt’s Creek tells the story of a wealthy family who hits rock bottom and is forced to reside in a hole-in-the-wall town they bought as a joke. Along with the Levy’s, the series also stars Catherine O’Hara (wife Moira Rose), Annie Murphy (daughter Alexis Rose), Chris Elliott, and Jennifer Robertson.

As Schitt’s wraps up season four on April 11, the writers will begin their next adventures for season 5 with strong support from Pop. “It is rare to find a television series that continues to deliver fanfare, critical acclaim and audience growth season after season,” Pop president Brad Schwartz announced Tuesday. “This gem of a show and its amazing ensemble cast, including the brilliant Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, bring Emmy-worthy performances to the screen that are both comedic and heartwarming.”

In a show filled with tons of biting comedy, Schitt’s recently had an intimate moment for Dan Levy’s character as he took his recently developed romance with Patrick (Noah Reid) to a new level that even affected Moira.

As the guys decide to host an open mic night at their store, Patrick decides it’s the best time to make his move in melting the ice around David’s heart. Dan Levy decided to add his spin on how gay relationships have been addressed in television over the last several years. “As a gay man, it’s really been a gift to write this story and tell this love story that’s just about two people that doesn’t necessarily have to teach people anything,” he said. “We’re just trying to show at the end of the day that love is love between two people. It’s a challenge for me because I want to do it justice. I want to make it as uniquely theirs as possible.”

While we continue rowing up Schitt’s Creek through the last few episodes of this season, mark your calendars for the 14 new episodes coming in winter 2019.
