Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez Sign On for a James Corden ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Special

The most watched ‘late-night’ clip on YouTube, ‘Adele Carpool Karaoke‘ has collected over 156 million views, prompting The Late Late Show host James Corden to strike chord with other notable talents. This time, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez will sign on for a round of ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and ‘Toddlerography‘ for CBS’ second The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke on May 22. Last year’s special took home an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special, Deadline reports.

According to Variety, Corden will begin the show with a musical performance, followed by flashbacks of some of his favorite moments as a late-night host. The “California Gurls” songstress Perry will join Corden in a Carpool Karaoke segment while J.Lo, having previously done ‘Carpool Karaoke’, will participate in a dance lesson instructed by a toddler.

‘Carpool Karaoke’ started out as a video of Corden and George Michael singing for Britain’s Comic Relief fundraiser in 2011. The video generated much buzz, and the follow up for more karaoke segments on the late-night show.

The Late Late Show developed segment is currently being produced into a 16 half-hour episode standalone series to be released on Apple Music, executive produced by Corden, Eric Pankowski and Late Late Show executive producer Ben Winston. Meanwhile, TBS is pursuing Corden’s popular ‘Drop the Mic’ segment to be produced as its own show.

The second installment of The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke airs May 22 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
