Manhattan‘s Helen Prins has joined The Leftovers.
According to Deadline, Katja Herbers (Manhattan, The Americans, Divorce) has been cast in a recurring role in the final season of HBO’s critically acclaimed and underviewed The Leftovers. Specific details about her character have remained scarce, as is the case with plenty of season 3.
The Leftovers, created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta and based on Perotta’s book, focuses on the Garveys and how people are coping with the fact that 2% of the total population have vanished from the face of the Earth without explanation. The series stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Ann Dowd, Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo, Jasmin Brown, Scott Glenn, and Carrie Coon.
Season 3, which has moved production to Australia, is set to premiere on HBO in 2017. The Leftovers, though not a major ratings hit for HBO, has garnered major critical praise and has raised award awareness specifically for the writing on season 2’s phenomenal “International Assassin” episode.
Katja Herbers has quite a bit of experience in television (Manhattan, The Americans) and has started to build a relationship with HBO. According to IMDb, Herbers is set to appear as Dr. Eden in The Leftovers and as Joyce Waanders in HBO and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Divorce.
The Leftovers is executive produced by Perrotta, Lindelof, Sarah Aubrey, Peter Berg, Albert Berger, John Blair, Rob Yerxa, Jacqueline Hoyt and Mimi Leder. Season 3 of The Leftovers does not yet have a premiere date.
