Kathy Bates Comes Back for Season 8 of ‘American Horror Story’

The eighth season of American Horror Story gets the Oscar winning actress Kathy Bates back. Bates was predominately seen in Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, and Roanoke version of the show. She returns to co-star in this coming season. She was not available during season seven of AHS because she was working on her own show for Netflix, Disjointed. She will be joining the leading duo Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters (both of whom were also announced to be returning to the show) as the three main leads to the series.

Ryan Murphy (the co-creator of the show) told Entertainment Weekly, “Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”

This season’s horror anthology is set in the future(ten to twenty years). Murphy usually keeps things close to the chest. Murphy has only said that “It’s set in the future, but not the theme. The near-distant future. It’s a projection story.” He has also said that the next season will not be the Murder House-Coven crossover, this is more likely to happen in season nine.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Adina Porter said that she had not gotten the call from Murphy about playing a role for season eight. She said this about returning to the show, “I hope so. I pray so. But you never know. Last season, it was maybe a month before shooting that I found out. So I think they are creating and we don’t know which way the creative mind is going to go, and how I do fit in or don’t fit in. So, I wait for that call.” Porter co-starred in both Roanoke and Cult. She also had a short appearance in the first season’s Murder House.

Murphy has also commented on rumors about the title of season eight. It is said to be titled as “Radioactive”; however, Murphy neither confirms or denies that title name. Instead he said, “I heard about that rumor. Well, that’s based on a fact that we’ve cleared a lot of titles for that show. It’s an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny.”

The show usually launches in the fall, and it has been renewed through 2019.
