Katharine McPhee Lands Leading Role In New CBS Pilot

The actress and American Idol runner-up has just inked a deal to become the leading lady of CBS’s Scorpion, says The Hollywood Reporter.

After the cancellation of Smash and the scandal when she was found cheating on her husband with her former director, McPhee had been laying low and keeping herself off the screens, but she’ll be back next season, this time on CBS’s Scorpion.

The show is based on real ovents of Walter O’Brien’s life and the leading character, Walter, will be played by Elyes Gabel. Walter forms a network of super-geniuses who he wants to bring together to fight modern age’s main dangers.

The 29-year-old actress will play Paige, a waitress who can actually understands Walter’s team of geniuses and who is brought in to act as a translator. She ends up also having to take care of him and his eccentric mind.

This will be the second big TV role for Katharine McPhee, whose credits include a guest-starring roles in a few shows, but only Smash as a meaningful one.
