Kat Dennings’ ‘Dollface’ Is Officially Picked Up by Hulu

Comedic star Kat Dennings has returned to the small screen after her relativity short series run as snarky diner waitress Max on CBS2 Broke Girls. The recently cancelled show’s plot, followed the lives of Max Black (Kat Dennings) and Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) as they try to raise money for their struggling cupcake business.

Her next endeavor, the original series Dollface, has found a home at streaming service Hulu and will follow a young woman (Dennings) after a difficult breakup, as she attempts to reestablish her most prized female friendships that she had left behind during her romantic relationship.

In Tvline’s recent article, Dennings is quoted as saying, “Reading [series creator] Jordan [Weiss]’s script was like opening a window into my own brain. I’m so inspired by the stellar team we have around us and the unique world of this show, especially with [director] Matt Spicer at the helm.”

Stephanie Laing (Veep, Vice Principals) will be directing the pilot with Margot Robbie acting as a producer along with her I, Tonya co-producers Brett Hedblom, Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan. Dennings will  also take on executive-producing duties for Dollface, as well.

Dennings has also recently voice acted with former wrestler John Cena, in YouTube Red’s new animated comedy Dallas & Robo, from the producers of BoJack Horseman. Youtube’s series will follow the sassy space-trucker Dallas and self-proclaimed warrior-poet Robo who both must find their way around other different and strange interplanetary species. It  had its premiere this past May 30th on YouTube Premium.

Her other recent work includes small guest starring parts on popular shows such as Comedy Central’s Drunk History and Netflix’s Big Mouth. Production is set to begin for the Hulu original series in 2019.
