Kaley Cuoco To Star In Upcoming Peacock Series ‘Based On A True Story’

Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) has agreed to a deal to star in an upcoming comedic thriller series for Peacock titled Based On A True Story, according to Deadline. The site reports the series is being created by Craig Rosenberg (The Boys) and Jason Bateman (Ozark).

Cuoco, who has most recently starred in the Emmy-nominated HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, has agreed to a two-season deal to star in this upcoming Peacock show which allows her to return to the hit show if a third season is picked up, which has not happened as of yet but appears likely as of now, according to Deadline.

Deadline reports that Based On A True Story is about “a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.” The series is inspired by a true story. Cuoco will play Ava Bartlett, who is a married relator, the site also reported. All other details on the character are currently unclear.

Rosenberg will serve as creator, showrunner, and executive producer, per Deadline. He will executive produce alongside Bateman, Michael Costigan (Stoker), and Roxie Rodriguez (The Skeleton Twins). Rosenberg, Bateman, Costigan, and Rodriguez will all executive produce for Aggregate Films. The series is being produced by a UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Cuoco has received three Emmy nominations in the last two years, earning two in 2021 for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series and one for the upcoming 2022 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series once again. All the nominations have been for The Flight Attendant.

It is currently unclear when production will start or when we may see a release for Based On A True Story. It is also currently unclear as to who will star alongside Cuoco in the upcoming series.
