Jordan Alexander Joins The Cast of ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot on HBO Max

HBO Max casts Jordan Alexander (Sacred Lies) as one of the leads in their Gossip Girl reboot, according to Deadline. Production on the 10-episode series was delayed due to coronavirus but the show is planning to start shooting this fall.

The series takes place 8 years after the original Gossip Girl website stops posting. The Gossip Girl site finds a brand new host to watch over and stir up trouble for a new generation of Upper East Siders. The show will also explore how social media has weaved its way into the lives of the younger generations.

Along with the original series, the Gossip Girl reboot is written by Joshua Safran (Gossip Girl, Smash) and is based on the novel under the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar. Safran also executive produces with Josh Schwartz (The O.C., Chuck) and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Runaways) of Fake Empire. Leslie Morgenstein (The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle) and Gina Girolamo (You, Legacies) of Alloy Entertainment are also set to executive produce.

Alexander joins a main cast of over 10 characters. Currently, she stars opposite of Juliette Lewis (Whip It, The Act) in the Facebook watch anthology series Sacred Lies: The Living Bones. She’s a Canadian singer-songwriter and decided to to pursue acting after some encouragement from her sister. Alexander opened up for Kehlani at Toronto Pride in 2018 and released a full length album called The Lonely Hearts Club. Her new single “You” is available now.

There have been no details revealed about Alexander’s character or when the new Gossip Girl series will premiere.
