Jon Cryer Posts a Picture of a Very Familiar Lex Luthor Piece of Jewelry for his Role of the Iconic Villain on The CW’s ‘Supergirl’

Ever since it was announced that Jon Cryer was cast as Lex Luthor in Supergirl, fans could not wait to see the iconic villain portrayed on screen. “We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor,” said Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. “Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in Superman IV brings an added layer of legacy to his casting. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the Supergirl family.”

Lex Luthor will debut in the March 17 episode, “O Brother, Where Are Thou?” where, from prison, he tries to persuade his sister Lena (Katie McGrath) to join in on his diabolical plans which will surely lead to some consequences. “He’s powerful, he’s devious, he’s funny, he turns on dime,” Queller said. “His dynamic with Katie [McGrath, who plays his on-screen sister, Lena,] is just so great. We think the audience is going to go crazy when they see his performance.”

For Cryer, it’s the role of a lifetime. “It’s a different side of him that I don’t think the audience has seen; I think they know him in much more different roles,” Rovner said of Cryer. “He has fully embraced being Lex Luthor, and it’s transformative.”

Cryer took to his Twitter account on Friday to post a little teaser for his upcoming appearance.

“I think what’s great about the second half of the season is that we’ve laid a lot of different stories at the beginning half of the season,” Rovner said. “We create some more, but all our stories dovetail by the end of the season so that everything’s been done by design and they’re all on a collision course into what we hope will be a very exciting and a resolution.”

Watch Supergirl on The CW airing Sundays at 8/7c.
