John Turturro Joins the Cast of Workplace Drama ‘Severance’ at Apple

John Turturro (The Jesus Rolls) is joining the cast of Severance at Apple TV+. The streaming service’s upcoming drama is executive produced by Ben Stiller (In the Dark), Chris Black (Outcast), Nicky Weinstock (La Flamme), Mark Friedman (Dispatches from Everywhere), Dan Erickson (League of Wonder), and Jackie Cohn (In the Dark) via Deadline

Along with Turturro, the cast of Severance features a wide range of well established actors. It will star Patricia Arquette (Escape at Dannemora), who won an Emmy Award in 2019 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for The Act. This will mark Arquette’s second collaboration in television with Stiller, as he directed her in the entirety of Showtime’s series Escape at Dannemora. She will also serve as a producer.

Adam Scott (Big Little Lies), Britt Lower (Man Seeking Woman), Zach Cherry (Succession), Tramell Tillman (Hunters), and Jen Tullock (The Coop) will also star. Severance will function as a workplace drama with a thriller twist. Turturro will be portraying Irving, an employee at Lumen Industries who’s worked there for years. Things start to change when Lumen decides to take things into a new direction with taking their business to the next level.  Scott will portray another employee, Mark, a damaged man with a murky past.

Turturro has been featured in several acclaimed television series in the past. He recently starred in the 2020 limited series The Plot Against America at HBO. He was also Emmy nominated in 2017 for his role as lawyer John Stone in HBO’s The Night Of.

Friedman (Dispatches from Elsewhere) will serve as the showrunner. Along with executive producing, Stiller has signed on to direct as well. The series is written by Erickson. Scott will serve as a producer in addition to starring.
