John Cena (Ricky Stanicky, WWE Superstars, Argylle), who is currently starring in James Gunn’s (Guardians of the Galaxy, Brightburn, Scooby-Doo) Peacemaker, has revealed huge update regarding the beginning of season two’s production date, Comicbook.com reports. The WWE alum has been interviewed by The Pat McAfee Show, and he spoke about Peacemaker‘s second season and what’s coming up for him in the future as a WWE Superstar. Cena stated that, currently, he is busy filming his upcoming movie Heads of State. After he is done with that, the show will begin filming. The interview video is available to be seen below.
“We started filming [a movie] before the strike called Heads of State Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Idris Elba,” Cena explained, via Comicbook.com. “And then straight from that to Peacemaker Season 2. That’ll take us through just about Christmas. I’m crossing my fingers, and toes, and my heart, that maybe – maybe just maybe – I can tell the Hollywood World to pump the brakes for a while and come back to my family for one last run. I hope, I don’t know. I hope, I’m trying, we’ll see what happens.”
According to Comicbook.com, Gunn has always wished to pursue more DC Universe projects for Max. However, there was concern regarding when the hit-superhero show would begin filming again. Gunn doesn’t seem to be full-time director for this upcoming second season, but he will be producing most of the episodes. In a social media post, he has shared his thoughts on the matter, confirming that the production will begin in this upcoming summer.
“The source is kind of iffy but this is true,” Gunn stated, via Comicbook.com. “John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some); & yes, Waller’s still happening & Jeremy & Christal are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so Waller will come after PM in the larger order of things.”
