Joe Locke, Star Of Disney+’s Upcoming Marvel Series ‘Agatha All Along,’ Shares How He Struggled To Keep Information About His Character “Teen” Under Wraps

Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along will be released very soon, and fans are theorizing about Joe Locke’s (Heartstopper) newest character, Teen. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Locke opened up about the struggles of playing such an important character in the series, and revealed why they have hidden the name for a long time.

According to Comicbook.com, Locke shared that the character’s name is truly Teen, and it has been hard to keep more information about him under wraps.

“It’s really woven into the show and everyone’s like, no,” Locke explained via Comicbook.com. “I’m like, ‘No. I mean it. It’s genuinely [the character].'”

He continued via Comicbook.com, “It’s frustrating sometimes because I want to talk about all the amazing things in the show, but also the amazing things in the show are only amazing if the secrets are kept until they’re supposed to be. The reveals and the twists and the turns are only effective if they’re kept.”

Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms, Wandavision), the main lead of the show, who portrays the infamous Agatha Harkness, joined the conversation and shared that the series will have plenty of twists and surprises: “There’s lot,” she said via Comicbook.com.

According to Comicbook.com, Locke has previously shared more facts about his character’s true name and how the show added hilarious one-liners about it throughout the series. Furthermore, he was able to tease more about what his character’s role will be alongside the main cast.

“It’s not a fake code name; it’s what everyone calls him, which is a joke that develops during the show, but just becomes what everyone calls him, and he answers to it,” he explained via Comicbook.com.

He added via Comicbook.com, “He’s very thoughtful and kind but he can kind of act without thinking sometimes. The Witches’ Road offers untold spoils and power… and then we’ll find out.”

In a previous interview with Comicbook.com, Hahn shared that the characters and the show itself had various developments during its production.

“These two shows were such living, breathing organisms. I had a movement teacher, the incredible Wesley Fata, who would say to us, ‘Champions adjust.’ And that became a catchphrase between all of us — you always had to be very flexible, because it really did shift,” Hahn said via Comicbook.com. “And so, you couldn’t even hold onto something very tightly. But I knew that the base arc, the important stuff, the emotional goal posts, were firmly in place. So, the difference between reading it on the page and seeing it almost two years later was so minimal.”

If anyone is interested in knowing more about the series, Comicbook.com shares the official synopsis from Marvel, available to read below:

“In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…”

Agatha All Along will be available to stream on Sept. 19 on Disney+.
