Sony’s Legacy brand will be releasing a new two-hour documentary straight to the home video market November 5, which encompasses the highly revered musican’s life, according to Indiewire.
A CD of unreleased material gathered from the 1968 concert of the Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Miami Pop Festival will accompany the “Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin” DVD, according to Indiewire.
The release date of the DVD will also be the same day PBS will broadcast the documentary as part of its American Masters series, according to Indiewire.
Bob Smeaton directed the documentary, having down Hendrix-themed films in the past. Interviews included people close to Hendrix on a personal and professional level and Smeaton tried to approach the direction of the film from a different angle by asking more women that give a perspective that steers away from his guitar icon status, looking deeper into Hendrix’s personality, according to Indiewire.
